Weekend rodeo recaps
Scott Snedecor maintained a very busy schedule on the weekend of June 18-22 without ever leaving his home state of Texas and by the time he stowed his gear back in Uvalde Sunday he had taken over the steer roping lead in the Crusher Rentals PRCA World Standings from two-time and reigning world champion Trevor Brazile.

Snedecor, the 2005 world champion, had his best results at the third segment of the Black Gold Pro Rodeo in Andrews, Texas, where he won two of three rounds and the average for a total of $3,214 on June 21. He also won $512 at the June 19 Black Gold Rodeo and, in between, he cashed checks for $2,690 at the Coleman (Texas) PRCA Rodeo, winning a round and finishing second in the average.

It added up to $6,416 vaulting from more than $3,000 behind Brazile to a little bit more than $3,000 ahead of him.

And Snedecor didn't just limit his weekend's labors to steer roping. He won the all-around title at both the June 20 and June 21 Black Gold Pro Rodeos. Oddly, he won no cash in steer roping at Andrews on the 20th; he was second in the tie-down roping and shared second place in the team roping, paired with Walter Priestly.

Three-time world champion bareback rider Will Lowe, of Canyon, Texas, was also a double winner over the weekend, capturing titles at the Buffalo Bill Rodeo in North Platte, Neb., and the Strawberry Days Rodeo in Pleasant Grove, Utah. He had an 86 point ride on Beutler & Son Rodeo's Lusty Lady at North Platte and an 85-pointer on Bar T Rodeo's Tiger Lily in Pleasant Grove.

Josh Peek, of Pueblo, Colo., increased his lead in the tie-down roping standings with a win at the Buffalo Bill Rodeo in North Platte, Neb., that proved to be worth $3,424. His season total is $77,890, a little more than $15,000 more than he had last year entering the Wrangler NFR.
