Elshere’s Winning Ways Continue at National Western[Jan. 25, 2010] DENVER, Colo.--- J.J. Elshere couldn’t have been any happier with his performance at the 104th edition of the Ntational Western Stock Show Rodeo.
The Quinn, S.D., bronc rider was the high money winner at the 2010 rodeo after having won money in every round of competition. Elshere won the first round, tied for first in the second round and tied for fifth in the finals. When all of the total were added up, he had 242 points on three rides, ahead of fellow South Dakotan, Jeff Willert, who had 237 points. By Susan Kanode
Who’s Who of Team Roping Making Bid for Denver Finals[Jan. 23, 2010] DENVER, Colo. --- The finals of the National Western Stock Show Rodeo is starting to take shape and it looks like team roping will be very exciting.
At Friday’s matinee performance new teams moved into the four of the top five positions in the over-all standings. Leading the pack was Clay Tryan, the 2005 world champion heeler from Billings, Mont., and Travis Graves from Jay, Okla. This is a new partnership for 2010 that appears to be working well. They stopped the clock in 4.2 seconds to tie for the lead in the second round. They lead the over-all standings with a total of 9.8 seconds on two runs. By Susan Kanode
