Cowboy takes unexpected trip to Vegas[Jan. 4, 2008] Steer wrestler Matt Reeves is not one to set grandiose goals. He wasn't exactly shooting for the stars when he made his plans for the 2007 season.
It's the PRCA for every cowboy[Dec. 27, 2007] The Heartland ProRodeo Series is about to swing open in full force. The new enterprise is designed to join smaller rodeos - which offer committee purses of up to $30,000 - in a series that will conclude with a championship event in Waco on Oct. 3-11. The Finals will feature minimum prize money of $400,000 and as much as $500,000.
Duvall Dynasty[Dec. 26, 2007] After three world championships and 24 trips to the National Finals Rodeo, steer wrestler Roy Duvall focuses his energies on the next generation.
Just 70 miles east of Tulsa, on U.S. Highway 266, lies the little town of Checotah, Oklahoma, population 3,481. A quintessential slice of Western Americana, it is home to an assortment of antique shops and Country music singers, one Civil War battlefield and a festival honoring okra.
Rodeo prize money pays for horsepower[Dec. 20, 2007] By finishing third in steer wrestling and tie-down roping at the 49th annual Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas this month, Pueblo native Josh Peek finished the season second overall in the PRCA's standings. While waiting to board a plane, Peek took some time for a Q&A with freelance reporter Brian Forbes.
