SAN ANTONIO, Texas --- The field is set for the final performance at the San Antonio Stock Show Rodeo and there have already been some big money winners at the AT&T Center.
Sitting at the top of the leader board is Shaun Stroh from Dickinson, N.D., who has either won or tied for first every time he has gotten on a bucking horse. At many rodeos that wouldn’t be a big accomplishment, but here it’s very impressive as Stroh has gotten on five different horses. His total earnings here so far are $9,593. A win Saturday night would add another $12,445 to his paycheck from the San Antonio Stock Show Rodeo.
Stroh leads the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association world standings in saddle bronc riding. He was very successful in 2009 winning the championship at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (WNFR). He won the title at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo and is having his most successful season so far.
The Dakotas are faring well here with the second high money winner coming from South Dakota. Ardie Maier from Timber Lake tied for the win in bull riding to earn $1,815, bringing his total earnings to $7,519. If Maier keeps this up, he will be headed to his first WNFR next December.
Former world champion team roper Bobby Harris from Highmore, S.D. has added $5,185 to his season earnings here. He and partner Britt Williams, from Hammond, Mont., were second here on Friday night. Their $1,556 for their 5.7-second run brought them to the top of the earnings standings for the second semi-finals.
Action continues Saturday with the second Xtreme Bulls performance at 1 p.m. and the final rodeo performance at 7:30.
