Some still trying for extra push as season finishes[Sep. 25, 2008] The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association regular season all but concludes this weekend...All money earned at PRCA rodeos through the end of the month counts toward qualifying for the Dec. 4-13 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. But beginning Oct. 1, winnings count toward the 2009 world title races.
Fox Sports Network (FSN) currently featuring the Wrangler ProRodeo Tour - Ariat Playoffs Puyallup Round[Sep. 22, 2008] Fox Sports Net (FSN) is scheduled to begin televising the action from the Puyallup (Wash.) Fair and Rodeo as the second stop on the 2008 Wrangler ProRodeo Tour and Ariat Playoffs the week of Sept. 22. The first episode will feature the preliminary round action of the Ariat Playoffs - Puyallup Round, with the second telecast showcasing the semifinal round featuring the top eight in the two-head aggregate and the third telecast will feature the final four competitors. .A new episode will air weekly...A total of 18 regional FSN providers will televise the first round action at least once between Sept. 22 and Sept. 25. PRCA ANNOUNCES HIRING OF KARL STRESSMAN[Sep. 11, 2008] The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) announced today that longtime Western industry leader Karl Stressman has agreed to join the PRCA as President and CEO of PRCA Properties and Interim CEO of the PRCA. Stressman has been involved in rodeo and the Western industry for more than 20 years. For the past 12 years he has been Director of Event Marketing for Wrangler Jeans and Shirts. In that capacity, Stressman has worked closely with the PRCA in promoting the sport of rodeo, including the “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” campaign, which Stressman co-founded as a result of his wife’s successful battle with cancer. National Cowboy Museum Announces Rodeo Hall of Fame Inductees[Sep. 4, 2008] Inductees are chosen annually by a vote of the Rodeo Historical Society (RHS) membership. Nine inductees will be recognized at a special ceremony and brunch on Sunday, October 26. The Hall of Fame class of 2008 includes Hadley Barrett, Don Gay, Charles Sampson, George Williams and Marty Wood. Being honored posthumously are: Lane Frost, Chuck Parkison, Claire Belcher Thompson and C.E. “Feek” Tooke.
