CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (September 25, 2010) - Tonight is revenge night at the PBR. We have a lot of rematches lined up, and in most of these, it will be the bull looking for payback. There were 19 bulls ridden in Round 1, and there could be more than that ridden tonight. There are plenty of bulls matched up against riders who will be favored to make the whistle, and we should see some good scores as well.
Round 2 Matchups
Cody Campbell on 323 Little Mr. T:
If the rider of the year is called the World Champion, and the bull of the year is called the World Champion, what do you call the matchup of the year? This may be it. These two have met five times, and Campbell has won four of those. Little Mr. T is no slouch, either. He has 93 career outs, and has only been ridden 10 times, which means Cody Campbell accounts for 40 percent of the qualified rides on him.
I could see this happening with a bull who is good to ride, but Little Mr. T has been one of the most difficult-to-ride bulls in the PBR for the past three years. It’s quite an achievement to ride this bull once, much less four out of five times.
Jordan Hupp on 515 Iron Broke:
Hupp got a score last night, and should get another one tonight. Iron Broke is the opposite of Little Mr. T so far in his career. He’s been out 14 times, and has been ridden 12 times.
Shane Proctor on 452 Fully Loaded:
Proctor will probably get his first score of the weekend here. He’s faced Fully Loaded three times and ridden him twice.
Kody Lostroh on 156 Tragedy:
Lostroh hasn’t been on many bulls this year because of injuries, but he was on this one just last week. He didn’t make the ride, but I doubt if there are many long-round quality bulls in the world who could throw Kody Lostroh twice in a row. Still, Tragedy is 10-0 vs. everyone he’s faced.
Sean Willingham on 421 Frosty:
Willingham hit the ground twice last night, but this is a bull he should be awfully familiar with. He’s been on him four times, resulting in one re-ride (bull fell), one buckoff, and two scores of 88 points.
Austin Meier on 1391 Mac-Nett’s El Presidente:
Unlike many of tonight’s pairings, these two have not met before. However, I would bet Meier is very familiar with this bull, as El Presidente has been on tour a lot. Over his career, he’s been a little bit better for right-handed riders, but Meier is riding as well as he ever has right now, and this will be a contest.
J.B. Mauney on 511 Look Out:
If he’s not injured, this is a bull Mauney should ride. Of course, I said the same about his bonus-round bull last night, and look what happened.
Jason O’Hearn on K41 Wild ’N Out:
Can Jason O’Hearn become one of the elite riders in the PBR? We’ll get a clue tonight. This bull has only been ridden four times in his career, but more to the point, he has only been ridden by two men: Mauney and Guilherme Marchi. Mauney has ridden him once, and Marchi has done it three times.
Renato Nunes on 381 Red Devil:
Red Devil is the bull Mauney rode in the bonus round last week in Greenville, S.C. He’s not a finesse-type bull. He is more like a jackhammer. He makes it easy for riders to fall off, but he’s not overly difficult to ride if Nunes can stay focused.
Ned Cross on 615 Jacked Up:
Jacked Up doesn’t have a lot of history, but he’s been ridden in two out of his last six Touring Pro Division appearances. Cross got a score last night, and has a good chance to get another here.
Colby Yates on 73/4 Flashpoint:
Here’s a bull who is ridden almost exactly half the time. He’s a pattern spinner and has a lot of rhythm, but he’s good enough to throw anyone who makes the slightest mistake. Flashpoint has been ridden nine out of 18 times by left-handed riders, but he is almost certainly going to spin to the right, away from Colby’s hand. All the left-handed riders who have been successful on him have also been in the Top 10 in the PBR standings before.
Mike Lee on -17 Drill Baby Drill:
Lee had this bull in Wichita, Kan., back in May and bucked off. Drill Baby Drill is one of the hardest working bulls in the PBR. He’s appeared in at least 15 different states from California to New York this season, and has only been ridden twice.
Robson Palermo on 151 Buckshot:
Buckshot only has seven PBR outs, but has been ridden successfully six times. Palermo is one of the guys who rode him – in April of this year at the New Orleans event.
Kasey Hayes on K47 Nasty Town:
This is really an awesome bull for anyone, and especially for left-handed riders. He’s the kind of bull that almost every rider will get along with, and he spins to the left.
Ednei Caminhas on 46 Loaded Gun:
Everyone knows Caminhas hasn’t had the kind of year he hoped for, but he got a score last night, and he’s ridden Loaded Gun before as well. He was 85.25 points in Columbus, Ohio, last October.
Silvano Alves on 507 Chicken Fried:
This is the bull who treated Mauney rather poorly in the bonus round last night. He’s also the highest rated bull in this round, meaning his average bull score is the highest. Like Red Devil, he is not a finesse-type bull, and doesn’t get ridden very often, especially by right-handed riders.
