Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa, was the latest tour stop for the Super Bull Series January 29th and 30th, 2010. Iowans tired of the snow, ice and cold, filled the seats for two days of exciting bull riding action.
The Super Bull Series is produced by George Marshall and Super Bull Entertainment a part of FEILD Entertainment. Started in 1988, Super Bull is currently the oldest stand alone bull riding tour.
The Super Bull Series Tour is now sanctioned by Southern Extreme Bull Riding Association (SEBRA) and the National Federation of Professional Bullriders (NFPB) giving the bull riders an opportunity to not only earn qualifying points for the tours finals March 19th and 20th in Roanoke, VA but for the two association finals as well and opportunities to earn more cash and prizes.

The opening ceremonies each night set the mood for the nights action. As the lights dimmed in the arena the focus was on the bucking chutes, where a bull rider stood front and center. You could feel the excitement in the air. With a blast of thunder and flames 40 of America's top bull riders walked through a shower of pyrotechnics. One lone man shinned above the rest, Willis Trosclair of Thibodaux, LA, was on top of the shark cage, as he is the number one bull rider in the Super Bull Series standings.
Announcer Chris Rankin from Normangee, Texas kept the Wells Fargo crowd informed with not only the riders names, but unique information about them as well, about the bull they had drawn and their owners. The Jumbo Tron in the center of the arena gave close-ups and instant replays on each 8-second ride. The quality of the riders was evident in the credentials each man carried and the quality of the bulls was equally astounding. The list of contractors and bulls they brought to match up with the riders was exceptional, in fact, some of these bulls have more awards to their names than the cowboys!
The antics of 2X National Finals Rodeo Funny Man, Donnie Landis of Hollywood, CA, kept everyone laughing. Donnie is a seasoned veteran to the arena and has fine tuned the art of keeping the entertainment moving while the production company does its work.
The bull riders where protected by bull fighters Jason Gibbs and Brian Blair. Weather effects us all and the bulls were no exception. These two men had their work cut out for them and thanks to this hard work there were no major injuries throughout the event.
Judging the event were Jerry Downs and Jason Cooper, both men were voted by the cowboys to be the 2009 NFPB Finals judges, which is a strong indication as to the cowboys opinion of their judging skills and fairness.
Clint Davis served as Bull Wrangler keeping the arena clear of bulls who chose not to cooperate with the production staff. He was given a loud round of applause when it was announced he was an American Soldier.
Each night ended with a special autograph signing following the event. Along with the 40 bull riders was Rachel Burton, Miss NFPB 2009. Rachel was on hand all weekend lending a hand and helping promote the sport of bullriding.
On a personal note I enjoyed meeting Ken with JK Rodeo, who has been a long time supporter of Rodeo Attitude and even owns the famous bull, Rodeo Attitude. Ken tells me that while "Rodeo Attitude" has made a few appearances this year he has been a main part of their breeding program with several bulls about to enter into competition. I also had the pleasure to meet Hannah Gant who informed me of some of the history of the 5G Farms bulls. Sitting with the contractors and their families was both educational and exciting to realize how many are supporters of the work we do at Rodeo Attitude.
I want to Thank George Marshal and Rodeo Attitude for the opportunity to cover this class act event. I look forward to covering another Super Bull Series event soon!
