PUEBLO, Colo. (November 9, 2010) - The Professional Bull Riders is excited to announce the Gold Buckle Reading program will return for the 2011 season in select Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS) cities.
The completely free Gold Buckle Reading program strives to reduce illiteracy by encouraging students to read at least 20 minutes per day for 20 days during the weeks leading up to each BFTS event.
“We created the Gold Buckle Reading program with the hopes that students across the country would be encouraged to pick up a book, read for 20 minutes a day and get excited about reading while learning a little bit about our sport,” says PBR Marketing Manager Kelsey Carlson.
During the program dates, any student in grades K-5 who complete his or her classroom reading goal will receive a special Gold Buckle certificate and a free ticket to the upcoming BFTS event in his or her city. Top performing classrooms will also have the opportunity to win PBR merchandise and a special visit from a PBR cowboy.
“The Gold Buckle Reading program gave me everything I needed to excite my students about reading while also encouraging them to read at home,” said kindergarten teacher Tori Wise of Winston-Salem, N.C.
If you would like to register a classroom for the Gold Buckle Reading program, please visit www.pbr.com/goldbucklereading for more information. Participation is limited and registration deadlines apply.
