
LAS VEGAS (October 17, 2010) - The eight finalists for the Professional Bull Riders 2010 World Champion Bull were announced during the “Built Ford Tough Road to Vegas presented by Cooper Tires” broadcast nationally by CBS on Sunday.
The special telecast featured the Top 10 bull riders in the world competing outdoors in Times Square in New York City, and also previewed the 2010 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals that begin Wednesday, Oct. 20 and continue through Sunday, Oct. 24 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas. Bull riding begins at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday. The winner of the Finals receives the coveted PBR Championship Buckle and a $1 million bonus at the single richest bull riding event in the world.
The eight World Champion Bull contenders includes two past winners with Bones (Teague Bucking Bulls, LLC) from 2008 and Chicken on a Chain (Robinson/Tedesco/Larry the Cable Guy) from 2007. The other six are Big Tex (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve), Bushwacker (Julio Moreno/Richard Oliveira), Highway 12 (Robinson/Mesa), Major Payne (Robinson/Katich/Pinnacle Bull Group), Uncle Buck (Jeff Robinson/Cappello/Teague) and Voodoo Child (Robinson/Beutler/McNeely).
Seven of the eight were selected in voting by the Top 40 bull riders on the elite Built Ford Tough Series and fans of the Professional Bull Riders. Big Tex was chosen by PBR Livestock Director Cody Lambert. The five bulls selected by the riders were Bones, Bushwacker, Major Payne, Uncle Buck and Voodoo Child while the two chosen by the fans were Chicken on a Chain and Highway 12. Voodoo Child and Bushwacker finished first and second in fan voting, so the next two highest finishers were selected.
The 2010 World Champion Bull will be the bull who accumulates the highest total bull score during the 2010 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas on Oct. 20-24. The winner will be announced on Oct. 24 after the final round of competition.
The American Bucking Bull Classic Long Go competition will be held featuring the Top 40 bulls from the regular season and the top four bulls from the Wild Card event. The 44 bulls will compete during Round 1 of the Finals on Wednesday with up to 20 advancing to the ABBI Classic Short Go which will be held in conjunction with Round 4 on Saturday. The bull with the highest score after two rounds will be the winner of the 2010 ABBI World Champion Classic title and $250,000. The ABBI, which introduces young bucking bulls at select BFTS and Touring Pro events, is dedicated to unifying, developing and promoting the bucking bull industry through pedigree preservation; enhancement and promotion of bucking bull ownership, breeding, and welfare; and development of programs and events showcasing the world's finest bucking bull stock. The ABBI is the third-largest cattle registry and is set up to record and preserve the pedigrees of the world's premier bucking bulls.

The Finals consist of six rounds of competition. The first five rounds feature all of the riders matched against the toughest bulls. The scores from the five rides will be combined, and the Top 15 riders will advance for an additional round of competition, following the completion of Round 5 on Sunday, Oct. 24.
