Professional Bull Riders - Briscoe Takes Cincinnati Round One Victory!!

CINCINNATI, Ohio (October 3, 2008) - The U.S. Bank Arena hosted the non-stop excitement of the Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) for the first of two action-packed performances of the U.S. Air Force Invitational presented by Cooper Tires. The event is stop number 30 on the elite Built Ford Tough Series presented by Wrangler (BFTS). New Mexico’s Travis Briscoe (Edgewood, N.M.) rode away with the round one victory after scoring 88 points aboard the bull, Rooster Cogburn, owned by Rafter S Ranch, to edge Wiley Petersen (Fort Hall, Idaho) by .25 points for the round win. Petersen covered Splat Kat of Danny Lemmons for 87.75 points.

Clayton Williams (Carthage, Texas) rode Puddle of Mud (Jeff Robinson/Bar-X) for 87 points to round out the top three. Meanwhile, three men---Josh Koschel (Loveland, Colo.), Pistol Robinson (Burleson, Texas), and Travis Sellers (Wentzville, Mo.)---split fourth, fifth and sixth in the first round after each scored 86.75 points. Koschel covered Road Hazard (Rafter G Rodeo, Inc.); Robinson topped Gappy Joe of Robinson/Larry the Cable Guy); and Sellers took on the bull, Smokin Aces, owned by Gene Owen/O’Kelly/Coleman.

As the second round winner in last weekend’s event in Oakland, Calif., Zack Brown (Santa Fe, Texas) was eligible for the $5,000 Enterprise Rent-A-Car “Ride with the Best” bonus money. Brown came up short against Boyd / Floyd Bull Company’s Pearl Snap, and consequently the $5,000 bonus was awarded to the stock contractor. By virtue of his round one, Briscoe will be eligible for the bonus on Saturday by virtue of his first round win.

The U.S. Air Force Invitational continues tomorrow as the world’s best bull riders compete in round two and the Built Ford Tough Championship round to see who will take home the Cincinnati event title.
