McCoy taking time to meet with fans before PBR Challenge

ATLANTIC, Iowa – There’s been a Cord McCoy sighting in southwest Iowa this week.
Actually, there have been several. The Oklahoma cowboy is getting quite a tour by taking part
in several appearances in preparation for the Cord McCoy PBR Challenge, set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday,
Sept. 11, at the Cass County Fairgrounds in Atlantic.
From radio interviews to autograph sessions to visiting with students, McCoy has been active
leading up to the event. By the time the first bull is bucked Saturday evening, the star of the spring
broadcast of CBS-TV’s reality series “The Amazing Race” will have visited several communities and
met with thousands of people.
“That’s the best part of what I do, getting to meet people,” said McCoy, one of the fan favorites
in the Professional Bull Riders organization for several years. “It’s cool to get to hear from people who
have seen me ride bulls or watched us on the race. It’s cool to talk to people about their lives.”
But the task for the weekend is to ride some of the nastiest bulls in the business, and with the
help of businesses like Olsen’s Outdoor Power of Atlantic and Ariat, McCoy will get the opportunity.
“I want this event to be a success, but my goal when the bull riding starts is to win it,” said
McCoy, whose wedding to Sara Best of Brayton is scheduled for November in Atlantic. “I have a good
shot at making the PBR World Finals, and winning this event can go a long way in helping me get
there.”

TICKETS: Advanced tickets can be purchased at the Cass County Extension Office, Atlantic; KSOM,
