St. Louis, Mo. (February 28, 2010) - Comeback kid Jody Newberry (Ada, Okla.) claimed the 2010 St. Louis Enterprise Rent-A-Car Invitational title after staying on all four of his bulls at the Scottrade Center. He was the only rider to stay on all four bulls for the weekend. Newberry, who has only been to four BFTS events so far this year and is already a force to be reckoned, received an impressive 90.5 points score after riding RFD-TV (Teague Bucking Bulls, LLC/RFDTV, LLC) in the championship round.

“It feels good,” said Newberry from the Enterprise Winner’s Circle, “especially to make it this far in such a short amount of time. I did my job, and it feels really good.”

The only other riders to make the 8 second buzzer in the championship round were Brazilian Renato Nunes (Buritama, SP, Brazil) and Oklahoma native, Ryan McConnel (Colgate, Okla.). Nunes showed off his backflip skills and won the championship round with the highest score of the weekend: 91.25 points on Carrillo Cartel (4C’s Bucking Bulls/James Sills). He also walked away with $15,406 for his efforts. McConnel, who came close to winning the event, took third in the round with 87.25 points on MoeBandy.com (D&H Cattle Company/Moe Bandy) and went home with $15,406 in his pocket.

Nunes also took the Round 3 win, with an 89.75 point ride on Bird Creek (Jef Robinson/Leon Frakes). Second place in Round 2 went to veteran Sean Willingham (Summerville, Ga.) who stayed on Flashpoint for 89.5 points and $1,950. Canadian cowboys Aaron Roy (Asquith, SK) rode Check Out (D&H Cattle Co/Buck) for 89.25 points and $1,170 for third place while Ryan McConnel walked away with fourth place in the round with 88.5 points on SoulJa Boy (Jeff Robinson/Priest Creek Ranch). Fifth place in Round 3 ended in a tie: Skeeter Kingsolver (Mclouth, KS) rode Larry the Cable Guy’s Smokey (Jeff Robinson/Jeffrey Scott/Pinnacle Bull Group) and Billy Robinson (Galax, Va.) stayed on Walk the Line (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve), both receiving 88 points.

INJURY REPORT:
Brian Canter aggravated an old ACL tear in his left knee. Since he was already planning on having surgery on his right hip later this month, he is going to have surgery to fix his knee later this week. He will be out approximately four months.

Kody Lostroh aggravated his injured left elbow again and didn’t ride in the short-go because of it. He is probably for next week in Kansas City.

Billy Richardson has aggravated an old injury in his left hand. He is doubtful for next week.

Guilherme Marchi aggravated the injury in his right wrist. This is why he didn’t compete at Round 3 in St. Louis. He is questionable for next week.

Ben Jones landed hard on his right elbow during Round 2 of the St. Louis Invitational. He appears to have broken his clavicle on the right side, which happens to be his riding arm. He will have x-rays later this week, but is doubtful to ride in Kansas City next weekend.

Dusty Ephrom aggravated an old right groin injury on Friday night during Round 1. He is doubtful for next week in Kansas City.
