PBR makes final 2010 stop in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio (October 5, 2010) -

The Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) returns to the Midwest for the final stop on the 2010 Built Ford Tough Series, at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, on Oct. 9-10 for the Cooper Tires Invitational supporting The Breast Cancer Research Foundation®. Tickets are on sale now, starting at $10, and can be purchased online at www.Ticketmaster.com, at the Nationwide Arena box office or by calling (800) 732-1727.

The Cooper Tires Invitational supporting The Breast Cancer Research Foundation will bring the Top 40 bull riders in the world to Columbus, including current top-ranked Austin Meier, PBR fan favorite J.B. Mauney, and Brazilian superstars Renato Nunes, Robson Palermo and Valdiron de Oliveira. Also anticipated to be in Columbus are two-time world champion Chris Shivers, current No. 13 ranked rider Skeeter Kingsolver, and Oklahoma resident Ryan McConnel.

Competition begins at 7:50 p.m. on Saturday and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, and will consist of three rounds of competition. The scores from Rounds 1 and 2 are combined, with the Top 15 riders advancing to the Built Ford Tough Championship Round after intermission on Sunday. The rider with the highest total score on three bulls will be declared the winner.

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Cooper Tires and the Professional Bull Riders have partnered with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation to raise breast cancer awareness among the PBR family and community. During the Columbus, Ohio event, Cooper Tire sponsored riders Renato Nunes, Skeeter Kingsolver and Robson Palermo will wear pink shirts and chaps, which will later be auctioned off with the winning bid split evenly between The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and the Rider Relief Fund. Cooper Tires is the official tire sponsor of the PBR.

The 2010 PBR season has been the sport’s most competitive ever with the first 29 events producing 20 different winners. Meier has the most wins with five, while Alves and Nunes are tied for second with three. Mauney and fourth-ranked Valdiron de Oliveira of Aparecida de Goiania, Brazil, each have two wins. Seven of the Top 10 riders have an event win and 13 of the Top 20 have a victory.
