Clown puts body on line for rider[Oct. 22, 2007] The growing popularity of bull riding world wde has brought several from Hawaii to tour New Zealand but one is grateful to a New Zealand bullfighter today - A rodeo clown says it was second nature to throw himself on top of an injured contestant to protect him from a rampaging bull.
Youth learns the daunting art of bullfighting[Sep. 6, 2007] Tanner Melsaether does a few side bends and arches his shoulders to stretch. He is dressed in baggy shorts loose enough to let him move freely and cover his hip and knee pads. His plaid shirt hides a protective vest. And his black-brimmed cowboy hat shadows his bright eyes and round, baby face. Bright yellow knee socks will keep his legs from being scratched by the grit of the arena and may capture the attention of a bull.
International registry aims to round up rodeo injuries[Aug. 23, 2007] In order to improve the health of those who participate in rodeos, physicians and health care personnel who provide care in this setting launched last month a registry to record the most devastating injuries that occur in this sport. Work is also underway to analyze some of the medical-related data that already exist and set up a conference to bring together those who work in this area.
