Corpus Christi, Texas - The DeMoss brothers continue to fare quite well at the Buc Days Pro Rodeo in Corpus Christi, Texas.

This year, Heith DeMoss of Crowville, LA, came away with the top prize and $5,330 after scoring 88 points aboard Rafter G Rodeo’s Moose Drool.

The ride came one year after Heith’s older brother, Cody, finished in a four-way tie for first in Corpus Christi. In 2006, Cody DeMoss placed second behind six-time World Champion Saddle Bronc Rider Dan Mortensen.

Heith DeMoss, who qualified for his first Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in 2007, finished one point ahead of Anthony Bello of Oakley, Utah.

While the DeMoss brothers have combined to win the last two saddle bronc riding titles in the South Texas coast city, bull rider Jason McClain returned to the winner’s circle for the second time himself.

McClain, of Lewis, CO, scored 91 points on Frontier Rodeo’s Lynch Mob, good for the title and $6,975. The 2005 Buc Days Pro Rodeo bull riding champion finished one point ahead of Cooper Kanngiesser of Zenda, Kan.

A familiar scene took place in bareback riding, where Bo Casper of Fort Scott, KS, won the title by one point over four-time Wrangler NFR qualifier Cimmaron Gerke of Brighton, CO. Casper earned $5,429 after his 87-point ride aboard Frontier Rodeo’s Linda Lou.

At the other end of the arena, Darrell Petry of Beaumont, TX, pleased the home-state fans by winning the steer wrestling average title in a time of 8.5 seconds on two head, earning $3,990.

Tie-down roper Zeb Chapman of Lafayette, GA, won the two-head average title in Corpus Christi, edging Mountain Home, TX, cowboy Neal Felton by one-tenth of a second. Chapman roped and tied two calves in 17.9 seconds, giving him the title and $3,261.

In team roping, Texas cowboys Jojo Lemond of Andrews and Martin Lucero of Stephenville finished on top with a two-head time of 9.7 seconds. Each earned $2,718 each.
