CHEYENNE, Wyo. ---July 24, 2010--- It was a good day for Wyoming at the first performance of the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo.

The very first bull rider out of the chutes was Seth Glause from Rock Springs. And, that just happened to be the best out of 29 rides. Glause had an 86-point effort aboard Triple V Rodeo’s bull 007 Q. The bull just happens to be a product of Wyoming too. He was raised by Bill and Dona Vold Larsen and is 10 years old. They sold him as a calf and when he started performing bought him back.

“He’s just an easy bull,” Dona said. “He’s easy to be around, an easy keeper and loves to play in the dirt.” He’s also a bull that Glause is familiar with. He’s ridden him before and been bucked off of him as well.

“He’s my favorite bull,” Glause said. “I was so excited when I found out I had him.” Glause also rode in the saddle bronc riding here on Saturday and got a 77 in that event. He then rushed from the arena to head to Nampa, Idaho where he qualified for the Snake River Stampede Finals. After a quick airplane ride, he’ll be back here for his second round of competition at the second performance.

Kaleb Asay, from Powell, Wyo., made his home state proud when he earned the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association saddle bronc riding championship last month at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo. Asay then went home and has spend a lot of time horseback riding colts. He came to Cheyenne fresh and ready to ride.

His 84-point ride is currently in second place behind Shaun Stroh from Dickinson, N.D. Stroh is no stranger to the winner’s circle. He won the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo last December, then the title at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. Stroh is ranked fifth in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association world standings.

It was a near capacity crowd that watched all of Saturday’s rodeo action. The second performance of the rodeo starts Sunday, July 25th at 1 p.m.
