NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Angry Monkey Entertainment announced today that A Pure Country Gift, directed by Christopher Cain, produced by Scott Duthie, executive produced by Hunt Lowry and written by Cain with son Dean Cain, has wrapped production in Nashville, Tennessee. The picture, which stars country singer Katrina Elam in her first feature film role, includes an appearance by Grammy-award winner George Strait; the star of Warner Brothers' Pure Country, directed by Cain and released in 1992.

Although not a sequel to the original Pure Country, A Pure Country Gift revisits the same heartland and genre that have made that picture a classic among country music fans; seen through the eyes of an aspiring, female country singer. Elam's character is granted the spiritual blessing of a beautiful voice, only to lose it when her fame causes her to lose sight of her ideals.

Director Chris Cain comments, “We look forward to introducing this movie to the fans who made Pure Country such a success over the years. We believe audiences will fall in love with Katrina Elam, a young actress who brings as much appeal and talent to the screen as she does to her music.”

Starting with the release of her debut single No End In Sight in 2004, Katrina Elam has, to date, charted a total of four singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts. Universal South Records released Elam's self-titled debut album. Recently, Elam co-wrote the track Change on Carrie Underwood's 2009 album Play On, and Reba McEntire covered her song I Want a Cowboy.

Cain directed the 2007 feature film September Dawn, starring Jon Voight, Terence Stamp and Lolita Davidovich. He also directed the classic films Young Guns, Where The River Runs Black, Rose Hill, The Principal and The Stone Boy.

A release date has not yet been set.
