Band Joins JINSA To Salute Our Men And Women In Service

Nashville, TN (November 19, 2009) – In 1996 Ricochet became the only band in country music to chart a recording of our national anthem. As a way to honor our nation and those who keep us free the band has continued to perform the national anthem during each of their live performances and at events throughout the world since that date. Likewise, each year since 1982 The Jewish Institute For National Security Affairs has honored the militaries five service chiefs and the Commander of the Special Operations Command with the Henry M. Jackson Distinguished Service Award.

In recognition of the band’s continued support of our military, JINSA invited Ricochet to sing the anthem and open the 2009 event. On a crisp November evening, the band took the in the main hall of The Ronald Reagan Building & International Trade Center in Washington DC. Ricochet joined National Correspondent for Fox News, Catherine Herridge t for the presentation of the Henry M. Jackson Distinguished Service Award and the presentation of the Grateful Nation Award, honoring six young active service members who have demonstrated outstanding conduct in the war against terrorists.

“Making the national anthem a part of our show has always been very important to us,” says Ricochet bassist Greg Cook. We have performed it at special events across the country and even on foreign soil. But standing there that evening, as the military color guard presented our Nation’s flag alongside the colors of each branch of the military and looking into the eyes of those brave men and women, it is a night I will never forget.”
