Riders In The Sky are Big Winners at WMA Awards Show
[Nov. 29, 2010] ashville, TN -- “America’s Favorite Cowboys” Riders In The Sky were the big winners at the 2010 Western Music Association Awards show held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, last week. Riders walked away with three trophies including the “big two” of “Outstanding Entertainer-Group of the Year” and “Album of the Year,” in addition to “Collaborative/Composite Album of the Year.” The album awards were for the monumental project Riders recorded with the Nashville Symphony entitled “Lassoed Live at the Schermerhorn”.

Loud & Clear: New Trends in Concert Technology

The sound system at the most famous live music event of all time consisted of a very basic setup: two Shure 16-channel mixing consoles, 10 McIntosh MI-350 tube power amps and a combination of speakers mounted on two rickety scaffolding towers. The system, designed by legendary sound engineer Bill Hanley, successfully supplied sound to more than 400,000 people for three days and kept running through hours of torrential rain.
