In essence, a presidential campaign is nothing but one very long tour with almost daily performances. Deciding on your target audience is the key. But determining your message -- your content, if you will -- is equally important. Can the country music industry benefit from studying the Obama camp's strategy? I think there are lessons there to be gleaned.

Driver Radio Chooses Winner In Songwriters Corner Song Contest[Oct. 16, 2008] Unsigned songwriters from around the world submitted hundreds of songs in hopes of winning the first Songwriters Corner Song Contest hosted by Driver Radio (formerly Trucker Radio). The songs were submitted to a panel of entertainment industry executives for review and the panel chose, "This Train Aint Through Runnin' Yet" written by singer/songwriter Greg Michaels, also a member of the Detroit based band Redhill.
