NASHVILLE, Tenn. ( October 13, 2009) - Chevy, the official ride of country music, is encouraging families and friends of our military servicemen and women to support an inspirational salute to America's Heroes at www.youreverydayhero.com. Chevy has chosen 5 finalists whose stories submitted by loved ones have best demonstrated the military spirit of overcoming obstacles, inspiring others and positively impacting their country and community. The promotion officially kicked off on September 10th and culminates during the "43rd Annual CMA Awards" on November 11th, live on the ABC Television Network where the winning serviceman or woman and family will attend the awards.
Chevrolet General Director, Advertising and Sales Promotion Kim Kosak said, "We have been absolutely overwhelmed with the stories we've received. Not just because of the sheer numbers, but due to the extraordinary care that has gone into each of them. We are extremely proud of those that took the time to nominate a friend or family member and for the military people they honored.
The public is encouraged to visit www.youreverydayhero.com to view the outstanding story of each finalist and then vote on which story most inspires them. Those that go online to vote will be entered into a sweepstakes for a chance to win a VIP trip for two to a 2010 NASCAR race.
"Chevy is proud to combine its support of both NASCAR and Country Music through its partnerships with Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, Hendrick Motorsports, Richmond International Raceway and CMA to help tell the stories of these American Heroes," said Kosak.
"As the driver of the No. 88 AMP Energy/National Guard Chevy, I've had the opportunity to meet many of the military heroes risking their lives every day to protect our freedom. It's an honor for me to participate in this program. I think this is an awesome way to pay tribute to those men and women," said Earnhardt."
The promotion will culminate at the 2009 CMA Awards in Nashville, Tenn. on November 11th when the winning service member and his or her family will attend the show and get the opportunity to meet Dale Earnhardt Jr. The CMA Awards will be broadcast live from the Sommet Center in Nashville, Wednesday, Nov.11 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on the ABC Television Network.
