Lafayette, LA (July 13, 2010) – Mark Chesnutt, traditional country troubadour, is pleased to announce his participation in ProtectOur Coastline.org’s upcoming Concert For The Coast. Hosted by Sammy Kershaw, who will headline the FREE benefit concert in Houma, Louisiana, the event takes place this weekend on Sunday, July 18, 2010, at Houma’s Court House Square. Chesnutt will take the stage with Kershaw and Wayne Toups.
ProtectOurCoastline.org is a non-profit organization created shortly after the Spring 2010 oil leak. The monies raised through the organization aid and assist the fisherman, shrimpers and natural wildlife of the Louisiana coast. ProtectOurCoastline.org works directly with the Louisiana Seafood Board and Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Foundation to identify those most in need of assistance and ensure all dollars go directly to those who have been hit hardest by the oil spill in the Gulf.
“This tragedy affects all of us, but it really hits close to home for me and Sammy. I was humbled when Sammy asked me to participate in the event; he’s an old friend and I am proud to support him and his involvement within this organization,” Mark Chesnutt said. “Folks’ livelihood and ‘way of life’ has changed dramatically because of this mishap. The Concert For The Coast will be a day full of fun and we hope to bring a little bit of ‘life’ back to the people of Houma, Louisiana!”
“I hope that this event continues to raise awareness and lets our fisherman and shrimpers know that they are not forgotten,” added Kershaw.
