Iconic country singer Charlie Daniels met Marcus Luttrell (the Boot Campaign’s inspiration) at a convention and was instantly a fan of the war hero’s patriotism. With the Boot Campaign in full force now, Daniels chose the organization to be a part of his annual event at the Nashville Palm, which benefits charitable organizations every year.

“The Boot Girls, well they are these young ladies with probably 10 million other things to do but instead they are doing something unique to support our defenders of our freedom,” Daniels said. “I’ve never seen anything quite as unique as the Boot Campaign, and I’ve seen a lot!”

Like the Boot Girls, Daniels also read Luttrell’s book, “The Lone Survivor,” and found the story incredibly inspirational. Luttrell’s own Lone Survivor Foundation is a beneficiary of the Boot Campaign’s efforts for awareness and funds to support the U.S. military and its veterans.

“He is the kind of human being that rarely exists today,” Daniels described. “The abuse our military endures is inconceivable, and even at that Marcus never lost sight of his and their credo of loyalty and fraternity.”

Daniels has had an active career in music and entertainment for many years, but he is still most identified with the smash hit song “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.” The popular fiddle-filled track has been featured in many pieces of pop culture and describes a fight to the finish between a fiddler named Johnny and the Devil himself. The two battle it out through song, and, of course, Johnny comes through in the end.

“I never enter let the Devil win in my songs,” Daniels explained. “I know how this ends, and the Devil doesn’t win, so I will never lose!”

This year, Daniels released a brand new patriotic album with his band entitled The Land That I Love. The album features the tunes, “My Beautiful America,” “Let Freedom Ring,” “Freedom And Justice For All,” “Iraq Blues,” “(What This World Needs Is) A Few More Rednecks” and the standard, “Star Spangled Banner.”

Charlie Daniels’ official Boot Campaign photo will be released on the organization’s website the week of Oct. 6.

About the Boot Campaign

Known as “the Boot Girls,” Ginger, Leigh Ann, Sherri, Heather and Mariae banned together one fateful night in Tyler, Texas to launch The Boot Campaign giving gratitude and appreciation for the American military. The initiative is quickly gaining awareness with the repertoire of boot images expanding every day. The Boot Girls ask Americans to put their boots on during the routine of daily life to symbolically walk in the shoes of our military men and women, remembering their service and sacrifice. The Campaign’s signature boots are available for purchase online with proceeds benefitting organizations like The Lone Survivor Foundation.
