Wild Horses : Surrounded

I am truly sorry, I really am! I just can't stop laughing! Hold on while I pull myself together. OK: caught my breathe!

I must, before I go any further forward, apologise to Brian Gowan and Michael Blake Mahler. Guys, I'm sure you write really good songs and I'm sorry that I find this one so hilarious. But I do. IT IS!

And guys, I hope it goes right to the top of the charts, I REALLY DO! We need a smile and this one would show what a laughing stock "Country" radio is.

Backed by huge pedal steel sounds, tight harmonies and a very ordinary melody, "Surrounded" is filled to overflowing with very bad gun-toting cliches.

"I'm captured by your eyes, they hold me like a gun," they sing, and later: "If you're gonna take the shot, girl, take it now. Yeah, bring me down!"

If you asked ANY songwriter to write a pastiche of a Country song, THIS is what they'd come up with.
What's truly worrying is that loads of "Country" radio DJs love this one, and it COULD make the charts.

If it does, we will have conclusive proof that Country radio has given up it's right to the title.

My View: I fervently hope this song is a HUGE HIT! It'll show how bad Country radio is today!

What do YOU think?? Tell us here!
