Unquestioned single of the week is "Back In The High Life Again" by Monty Lane Allen.
This is his "Country" take of Stevie Winwood's 1995 hit, and it's a wonderful remake.
The lyrics actually mean something, the tune is as fresh today as it was on it's first release and I don't suppose it stands a cat in hell's chance on Country radio.
BUY this one: it'll make your day brighter, no matter how you feel right now!
I always worry when someone starts a song by complaining about other songs.
It suggests they couldn't come up with anything better and Aaron Watson's "national debut" - "Love Makin' Song" proves the point.
Unoriginal both lyrically and musically. This guy can sing, but he must get better material.
Dan Evans, I'm told, wanted to be a Country star from the night someone stole his pickup outside a Keith Urban gig.
But he had to fight obesity because in this twisted world, fat boys don't make good Country music. (Figure that one out).
His debut single, "Letter To My Addiction" has a powerful message, a vast over-produced sound, and the chance to be a minor hit.

Jeremy McComb says it usually takes him two or three listens before he "gets" a song, yet "Cold" took just one play.
Except I think McComb means he loved the song after one play. I hated it. Full of badly constructed plays on words, sung to a tune that's been sung a thousand times before.
The mix is muddier than the Mississippi and the whole thing leaves me.....COLD.
