Cody Collins picked up his dream ticket when, as he was singing in his local bar, he was befriended by Dean Sams, keyboard player for Lonestar.
When Richie McDonald, the band's long-time lead vocalist, jumped ship to pursue a solo career, Sams asked Collins to step aboard.
But a new vocalist, and your own record label, is one thing. Getting back to the top is a little harder, and I'm not sure this is the track to do it for the band.
Was a time when you couldn't move for Lonestar hits - and great tunes they were too. And that's the point. The songs were great - good lyrics, good melodies, everything!
The new single is formulaic and, in places, the lyrics are downright painful but loyal Lonestar fans will jump aboard and buy the single in millions.
My View: I'll reserve judgment until I've heard more work by the new line-up.
