Tim McGraw CAN do Country music and every now and again - when he forgets himself, he lets it show.
So well done, Curb Records for pushing "Kristofferson" out as the new single from his hugely disappointing "Let It Go" album.
For fans of trad. country, this has all the whining steel guitars you could want and the fiddles are in there too.
Purists might say that the lyrics are hackneyed, but I wouldn't go that far. When I first heard this, I doubted how Kris Kristofferson would react.
After all, Kristofferson wrote songs that did rhyme and he is a master at keeping time, so suggestions in these lyrics to the contrary are potentially libelous!.
But let that insult go and this is excellent Country Music. See, Tim CAN do it if only he'd steer clear of the Nashpop he's become so fond of.
