On December 6th I posted the below story in which I spoke of Sara's wish to share one final Christmas with her family before going home to Heaven. Sara was granted a final celebration of Christmas Eve with her family in her own home. Early Christmas morning Sara having held on for almost a month longer than the doctors believed possible went home to Jesus. Since we met her in June she has been an inspiration to us all and our hearts and prayers go out to her family that they will know God is with them as they adjust to life without Sara. We at Rodeo Attitude pray that whenever you see a cowboy who is "Tough Enough To Wear Pink" that you will remember what it means and the patience and families affected every day by this terrible disease. May none of us ever forget Sara or all the other Sara's in the world and help put an end to this distructive disease.
Here is the article from December 6th:
In this day and age of political correctness we often hear of corporations and even politicians telling everyone to say “Season’s Greetings” as to not offend anyone. This upsets me and I want to express my reasons why. One reason would be that for a country that was founded on the principal of religious freedom and basically Christian values it offends me that we are no longer allowed to openly celebrate our beliefs in the form of one of the oldest holidays known to man. Christmas is celebrated world wide and has been for over two centuries. Our nation, no the world, determines what day it is based on the birth of Jesus Christ. This is the year 2007 AD, remember?
But my biggest reason for being upset would be that “Season’s Greetings” takes away the HOPE of Christmas. Yes, to me the true meaning of Christmas is found in the hope that it brings to the world. Without hope we have nothing. The birth of God in the form of man and his ultimate crucifixion, resurrection and ascension into Heaven gives us the hope of a future that is better and a life after death. Without this hope life is meaningless. It would mean that we just live for a short time and then return to earth gone and forgotten. What solace does this give to the world? Without Christmas there would be no hope for life after death.
Today the world is reeling from another mass murder in Omaha. Earlier this year we faced the mass murders in Virginia. As a sport we have lost several contestants this year. Some had proven their greatness and others were just beginning to show the world what they had to offer. In every case as a sport we came together knowing that although we would miss them they were now competing in Heaven. Our dear friend, Sara (Sara's Story) is lying in a Hospice in Nebraska in the final stages of breast cancer. She is holding on to share one last Christmas with her two young sons before her final journey home. She wants her sons to remember the true meaning of Christmas – hope for life everlasting. So I say to each and every one of you with the greatest of pride in my Lord – MERRY CHRISTMAS!
