A Christmas Message from Cindy Meyers, CEO Rodeo Attitude

While watching TV over the last few weeks with all the many Christmas Specials I noticed that very few of the “specials” had anything to do with Jesus’ birth. Their was stories about Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, music specials with very few, if any Christmas hymns and I felt a deep sadness at what is suppose to be the happiest time of the year. Then I watched a fantastic show on Public Television that featured a segment with the great Walter Cronkite telling a story of soldiers on the battlefield during WWII who chose to stop fighting for a few hours on Christmas eve and met in the middle of what was “no mans land” and celebrated the joys of Christmas together. It was just a brief moment in our history, a moment of peace. but one that has lived on through soldier’s stories for years. Then I remembered no matter what the modern media wants to do to Christmas they can not take away the magic that is Christmas. They can not take away the love we share for the little child in the manger. When God became man and walked with us for a short 33 years giving us hope to last all man kind throughout eternity. I though for a while today I was maybe loosing the Christmas spirit. I was feeling depressed with all the pressures of modern Christmas and wished for life to go back to a simpler time. A time when Christmas wasn’t about the gifts we give each other but about the gift God gave to us. I will pray that if there is someone else out there today feeling blue because of financial burdens and not feeling the true joy of Christmas that this will help them remember too that it isn’t about the packages under the tree but the present in the manger. Have a wonderful Christmas Party but remember to invite the guest of honor – Jesus!

Merry Christmas!
