UPDATE - January 30, 2010 - By R. Todd Crase, From the BullPen

As a co-founder of Rodeo Attitude I have had the opportunity to cover several events. None was more rewarding than this next article.

On Saturday, January 30, 2010, I met three of the most decorated National Federation of Professional Bullriders (NFPB) bull riders at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.

It was 2 pm on a cold Saturday just hours before they would be competing at Wells Fargo Arena in the final round of the NFPB sanctioned Super Bull Series, but first Craig Sassie, Justin Carlton, and Willy Ropp had come to visit fellow NFPB bullrider, Michael Mincy, and his family in room North 555.

After about a 1/2 hour of visiting with Michael’s parents and these three over the top bullriders we took the following picture.

I was so touched that I went back on Monday evening and read some Bible versus to Michael. Although he is still in a coma he seems to respond to those in the room. Visitors are always welcome. The family asks that if you stop in to see Michael that you sign the book next to his bed.

Please keep Michael in your prayers. Michael will soon be moved to Ankeny to start physical therapy per his mother.

UPDATE - January 24, 2010- Received a call from Pat today. Michael is still in a coma however he has more movement. He was moving his legs, his left eye is open about 1/4 of the way and he is responding to voices. Swelling in his brain has gone down and continues too. Michael is still holding his own and when a bed becomes available Michael will be moved to Ankeny for rehab. Visitors are still encouraged so please stop by and see Mikey and visit with him. Oh and don't forget to sign his guest notebook when you are there.

UPDATE January 17, 2010- Ann Brumback from Rodeo Attitude Sports Medicine stopped to see Mikey yesterday. Mikey is still in a coma, however he was sitting in a chair with his dad next to him. Mikey is fluttering his eyes and moving his mouth. He is nto on any medications and seems to be doing well. Ann visited with his parents for a while and things were looking better each day for Mikey. Mikeys mom is encouraging visits from people and has asked that you sign his notebook so that Mikey can have a record of who was in to see him. Also she asked that if you have any photos of Mikey that you are willing to bring for a photo album, please write your name on the back of the photo. Mikey will be moving to rehab as soon as a bed becomes available. They appreciate your support and prayers. They will try to update weekly.

UPDATE December 29th - Mikey has been moved out of CCU and is now in room 555. For those wishing to visit him at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, take the North elevators (same as b4) to 5th floor. Drs. say he's holding his own and good enough to be moved. Although he is still in a coma, he is continuing to move more and look better everyday. The family thanks everyone for the continued prayers.

Original story posted December 23rd:
