Just a moment, got to get out my old soapbox once again, here goes---
In just a few days Americans will once again go to the polls to select the leaders of our government with our right to vote. Many Americans have given their lives to preserve this right for you and for me. This is not something that should be taken lightly; neither should anyone ever think that their one vote won't make a difference. We are a country of individuals and regardless of race, creed or financial status each vote counts the same - we are all equal in the voting booth. Make your voice heard - VOTE!
As the CEO of Rodeo Attitude I do not believe that any media should take a position behind any one candidate. I believe it is our job to relay the facts and let each individual make up their own mind. I have been made aware of a publication on the web that tries to fairly present the views of the two presidental candidates on 20 important issues side by side. I am giving that link here:
http://www.grassfire.org/scorebook/contents.asp?CID=97&RID=17695837
Grassfire would probably be classified as more conservative than liberal but I feel they have been relatively neutral in this comparison. I list it here only as an aid and strongly suggest over the next few days that you take time to visit the sites of the two candidates as well:
Barack Obama - http://www.barackobama.com/issues/
John McCain - http://www.johnmccain.com/Informing/Issues/
Regarding rodeo itself, probably the biggest issue facing our industry is horse slaughter and as an industry we knows the bottom fell out of the horse market long before Wall Street. Sadly, I personally disagree with both candidates position on this issue and feel neither one has a clue to the importance the horse industry plays in the economy of the United States or the world for that matter. I feel neither candidate understands the consequences of our countries actions in the eyes of the world regarding this issue. Horse slaughter is an issue that we will have to continue to face when the elections are over. This is an issue that deserves a close look to see where those running for Congress in your voting district stand - especially in Illinois and Texas.
I will now put my old soapbox away! Thank you.
