It is with the deepest sadness that I am passing on this message from Linda Peterson, who often reports on events for Rodeo Attitude. Please take the time to read her important message and keep her family in your prayers. Thank you.
Dear friends: Today is one of the saddest days in my life and I need to share it with you so this NEVER happens to someone you love. My cousin, who is more like a sister to me than a cousin, was pulled off life support last night. She had taken an overdose of Excedrin PM. We had NO IDEA that this is as deadly as it is. Excedrin PM has Tylenol in it (Acetaminophen). Come to find out that this is the Number ONE cause of liver failure in the world today. The first 24 hours are usually symptom free, then when they do come they are flu-like so people go out and get flu medication, which contains more acetaminophen and continues to compound the problem. During the first 12 hours, this drug is literally destroying your liver. The liver supplies blood to the kidneys, which because the liver suffers such a blow, can no longer support them and kidney failure occurs. All of this within 24 - 72 hours! Now the body can't get rid of any toxins and amonia begins to build up and travel to the brain. Blood borne infections occur and the patient has no way of fighting it off. The roller-coaster of positive news and hope and then the gut wrenching negative news and despair is simply horrible. Please, please, please! Talk to your children. Forward this email to everyone you know so that they can talk to their loved ones and kids. And take that stuff OUT OF YOUR MEDICINE CABINET! Understand and make them understand that when you are sick and have taken Tylenol or a flu medication (which usually contains acetaminophen) that you MUST read the label. If you add a decongestant, it too contains acetaminophen, and now you add a cough medication which also contains acetaminophen....It doesn't take much to poison you! I had absolutely no idea that it took so little and now her husband and her wonderful girls and grandchildren are paying the ultimate price. Please understand this and act now to prevent this from happening to someone you love. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Sadly, Linda Peterson
