The election is over and we will soon have a new president. Since the one department that tends to effect the rodeo, bull riding, and the whole Western industry tends to be te Department of Agriculture I have decided to ask for recommendations for the position of Secretary of Agriculture.

Editorial - Just a moment, got to get out my old soapbox once again, here goes---

In just a few days Americans will once again go to the polls to select the leaders of our government with our right to vote. Many Americans have given their lives to preserve this right for you and for me. This is not something that should be taken lightly; neither should anyone ever think that their one vote won't make a difference. We are a country of individuals and regardless of race, creed or financial status each vote counts the same - we are all equal in the voting booth. Make your voice heard - VOTE!

Iowan's were singing "Rain, rain, go away!" as summer began in the Hawkeye state. Flood waters reeked havoc throughout the state. Today the final weekend of the summer has dawned on a gorgeous sunshiny day with only the lightest touch of a breeze. It is a day to enjoy and enjoy Iowans will. The Iowa Speedway in Newton is dedicating the weekend to raising money for flood victims with the "Race 2 Recovery 225 USAR Hooter's Pro Cup". Iowa born country entertainer, Rodeo Attitude is also based out of IOwa and is extremely proud to have member, Jason Brown, highlighting the pre-race show with his brand of country music that has grown his populairty from a core of Iowans to fans across the nation.

What happened Monday night at the start of the Days of '47 Rodeo was what has happened for the past 47 years: Clem McSpadden and his Oklahoma drawl boomed throughout EnergySolutions Arena, which was a surefire way to let fans know they were about to experience a night of world-class rodeo action. There was also a video montage to go along with his speech.
