WACO, Texas - Being crowned an inaugural Heartland ProRodeo Series champion on Oct. 11 at the Heart O' Texas Fair Complex will be an honor, indeed. But some cowboys, like Texas tie-down roper Scott Kormos, got an extra perk at the nine-performance competition. With a second-place finish Friday night, Kormos' $6,816 in prize money from Waco should move him into the Top 15 in the Crusher Rentals PRCA World Standings and unofficially qualify him for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, Dec. 4-13, in Las Vegas.

WACO, Texas-The storylines at the Heartland ProRodeo Championships are many and that's what makes the rodeo so much fun for contestants, fans and organizers. Add in that it is crunch time of the rodeo season and the drama unfolds. Just take the bareback riding of the challenge round held at the Heart O' Texas Fair Complex.

"It's like we're in overtime of a basketball game and you have somebody who can shoot a free throw to win the game or not," said Texas bareback rider Wes Stevenson, who survived Oct. 9th's cut from 12 to 10 of the playoff format.

WACO, Texas - The warm-up is over and the field has been thinned as the preliminary rounds of the Heartland ProRodeo Championships concluded Oct. 8 at the Heart O'Texas Fair Complex. The field of 30 in each event was cut to 12 through six rounds of preliminary action that began on Oct. 3...Cowboys begin a playoff format Oct. 9 with hopes of becoming the inaugural Heartland ProRodeo champion. Scores are erased and competition begins again as the field is then further reduced to 10 on Oct. 10 and then eight at 7 p.m. (CT) on Oct. 11, immediately followed by a final four battle for championship buckles.

Bullfighter Will Fevord's 3 year old daughter dies

Rodeo Attitude has been notified that Bullfighter Will Fevord's 3 year old daughter Dakota died late early Monday evening on October 6 from injuries received when she was accidently ran over in the families driveway. She was taken to Fort Dodge hospital where she later passed away. We are asking for continued prayers for the family, more information to follow. Will works regularly for Circle C Rodeo Company among others.

Fall Fest Bull Fest, a freestyle bullfighting competition sanctioned by the Midwest Bullfighters Association, was held Saturday, October 4th, at the Grant County Fairgrounds in Ulysses KS...Twelve men competed in a format which had 3 men in each of 4 rounds. The winner of each round came back for the Championship round. After facing two fighting bulls it was Cody Calkins who won the event championship.

The U.S. Bank Arena hosted the non-stop excitement of the Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) for the first of two action-packed performances of the U.S. Air Force Invitational presented by Cooper Tires. The event is stop number 30 on the elite Built Ford Tough Series presented by Wrangler (BFTS). New Mexico’s Travis Briscoe (Edgewood, N.M.) rode away with the round one victory after scoring 88 points aboard the bull, Rooster Cogburn, owned by Rafter S Ranch, to edge Wiley Petersen (Fort Hall, Idaho) by .25 points for the round win. Petersen covered Splat Kat of Danny Lemmons for 87.75 points.

Iowa rodeo cowboy, Curtis Stark killed in car accident

On Tuesday, September 30th, that Curtis Stark, 21, Lovilia, Iowa, was killed at approximately 12:30 AM just 2 miles from his home. Curtis is the son of Doug and Cindy Stark and was very active in Iowa High School Rodeo. He had currently been competing in the Iowa Rodeo Cowboy Association (IRCA) and the United States Team Roping Championships (USTRC).(IRCA) and the United States Team Roping Championships (USTRC).
