WACO, Texas - Being crowned an inaugural Heartland ProRodeo Series champion on Oct. 11 at the Heart O' Texas Fair Complex will be an honor, indeed. But some cowboys, like Texas tie-down roper Scott Kormos, got an extra perk at the nine-performance competition. With a second-place finish Friday night, Kormos' $6,816 in prize money from Waco should move him into the Top 15 in the Crusher Rentals PRCA World Standings and unofficially qualify him for the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, Dec. 4-13, in Las Vegas.

WACO, Texas-The storylines at the Heartland ProRodeo Championships are many and that's what makes the rodeo so much fun for contestants, fans and organizers. Add in that it is crunch time of the rodeo season and the drama unfolds. Just take the bareback riding of the challenge round held at the Heart O' Texas Fair Complex.

"It's like we're in overtime of a basketball game and you have somebody who can shoot a free throw to win the game or not," said Texas bareback rider Wes Stevenson, who survived Oct. 9th's cut from 12 to 10 of the playoff format.

WACO, Texas - The warm-up is over and the field has been thinned as the preliminary rounds of the Heartland ProRodeo Championships concluded Oct. 8 at the Heart O'Texas Fair Complex. The field of 30 in each event was cut to 12 through six rounds of preliminary action that began on Oct. 3...Cowboys begin a playoff format Oct. 9 with hopes of becoming the inaugural Heartland ProRodeo champion. Scores are erased and competition begins again as the field is then further reduced to 10 on Oct. 10 and then eight at 7 p.m. (CT) on Oct. 11, immediately followed by a final four battle for championship buckles.

The U.S. Bank Arena hosted the non-stop excitement of the Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) for the first of two action-packed performances of the U.S. Air Force Invitational presented by Cooper Tires. The event is stop number 30 on the elite Built Ford Tough Series presented by Wrangler (BFTS). New Mexico’s Travis Briscoe (Edgewood, N.M.) rode away with the round one victory after scoring 88 points aboard the bull, Rooster Cogburn, owned by Rafter S Ranch, to edge Wiley Petersen (Fort Hall, Idaho) by .25 points for the round win. Petersen covered Splat Kat of Danny Lemmons for 87.75 points.

The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) announced today that its members overwhelmingly voted down a proposal to restructure the PRCA...The voting, which was presided over by an objective Special Master, took place at a special membership meeting this morning in Colorado Springs. The purpose of the meeting was to consider proposed changes to the PRCA bylaws, put forth by a dissident member who sought to fundamentally restructure the PRCA and create a direct majority rule system. The member sued the PRCA in an attempt to force his changes and the Court gave him the opportunity to hold the meeting.

The PBR Out of the Chute Invitational provided non-stop action for the Oracle Arena crowd as the Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) Built Ford Tough Series presented by Wrangler (BFTS) invaded Oakland, Calif. Fans were treated to stop number 29 on the elite tour as the world’s best bull riders competed to earn a spot at the upcoming 2008 PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals presented by Wrangler. In the end, number one bull rider in the world Guilherme Marchi (Leme, SP, Brazil) emerged victorious after totaling 265 points on three bulls, taking home a check worth $44,010.
