You are right my friend but where there’s a will there’s a way. At the end of the song Merle says “The best of the free life is still yet to come and the good times ain’t over for good! By the way many thanks for uploading this song.

This song is timeless. Classic sensibilty, purity written here for a time when people stood proudly for our country and the warning/fortelling of what we have now…
Damn good song
elect ron paul and the good times won’t be over for good !!!
Merle says it all here ! Has for the past 30 yrs.
I’m 25 years old and I feel like I should of lived in the older generations. I sit here and listen to this song and it all but brings tears to my eyes thinking about how much the world has changed just in MY lifetime. Oh how I just wish my generation grew up with good morals and beliefs. I will definitely be in Cary, NC on 8/07/2012 to see Mr. Haggard in concert!!!
Gotta love the bass Trombone in this recording. Love the fat tone and projection with just sitting on those low Bb!!
When was this song written? Its amazing how it sounds like it could of been written yesterday.
