Rodeo
is simply amazing
- Accepting a sports writer position in Pendleton, I felt like I’d covered a wide variety of sports during my time in Eugene at the University of Oregon.
Basketball, track, lacrosse and even water polo were some of my coverage areas. I assumed when applying for jobs there would be almost no sport that I hadn’t played, watched, or previously written about. I figured I’d be able to jump into any beat like a seasoned pro.
What a glorious rookie mistake.

Days Rodeo Committeeman dies

Lincoln
Highway Days Rodeo - First
you are wanting to know how a
small town rodeo in Iowa makes the
top story. Simple. My
dad was the one that got it
started! Dad is gone but his
memory lives on in my heart and
the love he gave me for a sport he
never competed in. He was a
fan and I am a fan. We are
living proof fans are important to
the sport, because out of fans
come all the committeemen, sports
writers, vendors, and other people
that make the world of rodeo go
round. So in Dad's honor
today the top story is about the
rodeo he started that will be held
the last weekend of August in my
hometown, Nevada, Iowa.
Might not mean much to you, but
had it not been for this there
just might not have been a Rodeo
Attitude. Who knows!
