LoriDee
is the daughter of Larry and Cindy Meyers.
founders of Rodeo Attitude. She is a graduate
from Collins Maxwell High School and from the Iowa College of Natural Health in
Ankeny, Iowa, where she studied
massage therapy .
She
has big brown eyes and light brown hair that
turns almost blonde in the summer. She
loves her cowboy boots and blue jeans, but gets
teased a lot for her obsession with "flip
flops" as her mom calls them.
One
of her top priorities in high school was serving
on the Executive Board of the Students Against
Destructive Decisions (SADD).
LoriDee was a member of this organization
for four years and had represented her school at
district and state meetings each year.
"In high school the pressures of
being a teen are so great that I believe that
SADD is one of the most important organizations
in our schools today.
Each year high schools across
America
celebrate "Red Ribbon Week" during
which we visited the elementary grades and talk
to the younger kids and did lots of promotions
to make the older kids think.
I am very proud that Rodeo Attitude
encourages its members to visit schools and talk
to kids.”
LoriDee,
believes school spirit is an important part of
high school and was a cheerleader from 7th grade
to her senior year.
During her years of being a Varsity
football and basketball cheerleader she was
asked once what she thought about small schools
and their spirit.
She replied "We are a very small
town and we don't always win but the teams do
their best.
I have learned from being around the
cowboys how important it is to always do your
best. I
respect the kids in my school that take the time
to practice and do all the things to be on the
team so I do my best to support them.
Our school has such good spirit and it
shows at every sporting event."
LoriDee was on annual staff for three 1/2
years. "Working
on the annual was fun because we got to record
all the memories and we created something that
our classmates will have for years to come.
It will be really nice to go to my 10th
class reunion and see everyone looking at our
class annual and know I played a part in it.
Of course getting to walk around the
school taking pictures of everyone without getting
in trouble had its advantages!"
LoriDee was a member of the high school
chorus for four year.
"Chorus was a lot of work but our
school really supported the choir and we went on
trips, did a play and had several concerts each
year. My
senior year I sang with the great Simon Estes.
I guess that will be something to tell my
kids someday."
As a member of the Rodeo Attitude staff,
LoriDee's main responsibility has been to update
several athletes websites including bull riders,
Corey Montana Davis, Dustin Elliott, Jody
Newberry, Willy Ropp, J. B. Mauney, and Jason
Cahill. Needless
to say, she would rather be heading for a bull
riding than just about anything else.
"Working with these bull riders has
been a very rewarding experience.
The guys always make me feel so welcome.
At one event a bunch of the riders went
bowling and I tagged along.
They made a lot of fun of my being
embarrassed to bowl and I finally gave in and
played a game.
They all treated me like I was their
little sister.
When I got back to school a couple of my
classmates who ride bulls could not believe I
went bowling with Dustin Elliott.
I guess that will be another story to
tell my kids."
At events she often helps with autograph
sessions as well as gathering information for
the website.
LoriDee has also helped at several Cowboy
Church Services.
She spent almost a week in Ardmore, Oklahoma
working at a big event that featured the Great
American Wild West Show.
Each morning started with prayer
breakfast at 6:30 AM and she never left the
arena before 11 PM.
Cody
Custer was the special guest at this event in
Ardmore and he took time to give LoriDee a quick
bull riding lesson on a mechanical bull.
She wasn't too bad of a student, she won the
mechanical bull riding contest at her senior
prom!
Another
highlight for her was attending, as a guest, one
of Lyle Sankey's bull riding schools in
Centerville
,
Iowa
. Meeting
Lyle Sankey was not only exciting but as LoriDee
put it, "Lots of information in a very
short time!"
LoriDee will use what she learned from
Lyle to become a better reporter.
"I've been working at bull ridings
since I was nine, but after spending the day
with Lyle I understand the techniques and what
is really going on a lot better."
LoriDee
now serves as the president of the Rodeo
Attitude Program. Don't let her age
fool you. She has over a decade of
experience behind the scenes of rodeo as
well as in the Rodeo Attitude
office. You can watch for her at
events, as an on air cogitator for
revaMedia, or just giving a cowboy a first
class massage. She is a young lady
with a lot of talent!
