God is God!  His Compassion Fails Not

Lamentations 3:21-33  "Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope.  Because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed for His compassion fails not.  They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.  I say to myself, 'The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.'  The Lord is good to those who's hope is in Him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.  It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is young.  Let him sit alone in silence for the Lord has laid it on him.  Let him bury his face in the dust--there may yet be hope.  Let him offer his cheek to one who whould strike him and let him be filled with disgrace.  For men are not cast off by the Lord forever.  Though He brings grief, He shows compassion, so great is His unfailing love.  For He does not willingly bring affliction or grief the children of men."

Like the previous devotion, "Faith...Refiner's Fire," this passage gives another insight to the just love of God.  It is important to realize that God does allow grief to come upon us.  Sometimes, it's easy to blame God and be angry with him for "making" us suffer.  Lamentations bares the full horror of suffering, yet offers hope based on the character of God.  He's not a God to stay angry.  He's quick to forgive and He is forever compassionate.  Our duty is to accept fully the grief and quietly meditate on its meaning while waiting for God to reveal Himself and His will to us.  Quite times are important to us and to God--especially when we're troubled or struggling.  Being silent gives us a chance to think about our struggles and what they may mean.  More importantly, quite times with God gives Him the opportunity to speak to us.  If we continually ask "Why?" without ceasing, God doesn't have the chance to answer.  It's in those quite times that God speaks directly to us--and although He may not answer immediately, His voice gives comforting and reassurance.  God is Good!

Spend some quite time with God.  Allow Him to move within you and speak to you.  God doesn't have to speak to us like He did Moses in an audible voice.  That little voice inside you...some call it your "conscience"...I believe is the voice of God.  Let Him speak to you.  Spend some time with Him...getting to know Him and what He has in store for you life.  God desires a relationship with you...but you have to meet him half way.

God bless you all,
