PAYOFF

  1. A contestant must compete on every head of stock drawn for him/her in an event to place in the average.

  2. If the total amount of money (entries plus added money, subtract 5%).

A.  All TR monies are figured on one-half (1/2) the total purse.

B.  When there is an average, average will pay same amount of places as the go-rounds.

  1. In the event there is only one (1) qualified time or ride in any event, that contestant will receive all of the money in that event.

  2. In the event there are only two (2) qualified times or rides in any event, those two (2) contestants will receive 60% and 40% of the entry money for that event.

  3. In the event there are no qualified rides in any event, ground money will be paid.

  4. Two go-rounds and average.  Average will pay same as go-rounds.

    1. Three go-rounds and average.  Average will pay 1-½ times the amount of the go-rounds.

  5. Contestants’ checks should be mailed within two weeks after the last performance of the rodeo.

  6. Equal money in all events is encouraged.  Team roping heading & heeling, each being considered an event.

RODEO APPROVALS

  1. To gain IRCA approval a stock contractor must complete the rodeo approval form and submit it to the office, not more that 30 days from signing contract, and at least 45 days prior to the first performance of that rodeo.

    1. Any changes on approval form must be done through the office, for IRCA approval, prior to the rodeo.

  1. Late approvals are subject to a $50.00 late approval fee and subject to the Board’s approval.

  2. The IRCA will double approve winter rodeos within the state of Iowa .  “Winter” will be from the first weekend in October through the last weekend of April.  The points accumulated will count for year-end standings.  The rodeo should have one judge from each association.

  3. Any IRCA rodeo can be co-approved.

CONDUCT OF RODEO

  1. Contestants will pay full gate fee at all performances he/she does not participate in, unless the sponsoring producer of the rodeo elects to lower that amount or eliminate it.

A.     Approved rodeos are to accept membership cards, and pass cards, the same, as they would accept paid-for-tickets.

B.     If a member is caught passing his card around, the committee may take his card and send it to the secretary’s office.

  1. If at least four (4) contestants are not entered in an event, the committee can cancel the event or pay mount money.

If an event is cancelled due to lack of entries, the added money of said event may not be used for mount money.

  1. All members must ride in all grand entries unless there are extenuating circumstances.

A.     Long sleeve shirts (rolled down), boots, and western hats must be worn at all times when in the arena. (This includes one hour before the performance and in the slack).

B.     Contestant will receive one warning.

C.     Twenty-five dollar ($25.00) fine for non-compliance.

  1. If the management provides satisfactory seats for the contestants, the Association will urge the contestants to stay out of the arena when they are not scheduled to compete.

  2. There will be two (2) timers at every performance of an IRCA approved rodeo.  One will be considered the primary timer, the other the secondary timer.

A.     Timers for a rodeo may not be changed after the first performance except for sickness or injury, by request of an Association official because of timer’s incompetence, or through agreement of stock contractor, rodeo committee and Association official.

B.     The primary timer, who times the first performance of any event, must remain the primary timer of that event throughout the rest of the rodeo, except as noted above.

C.     All timers must attend a judging and timing clinic.

D.     All timed events, (except girls’ barrel racing), will be timed in tenths.

  1. Field flag judge may not be changed during the course of an event.

A.     If a judge cannot complete a rodeo, a new go-round will start and two separate pay-offs will be paid in rough stock events.

  1. The decision of the judges, flagman, and timers who have been passed-on by the Association shall be final and no protest by the contestants will be permitted.

  2. Contestants must be ready to compete when called on.

  3. Should the occasion arise for representation at a rodeo, any member in good standing should call the Association office for instructions if no director or officer is present.

  4. All contestants and contractors are required to read the rules carefully, particularly those related to the events which they enter.  Failure to understand or failure to know the rules will not be accepted as an excuse.

  5. Performance cancelled:

A.     Money won at any rodeo which has performances cancelled for any reason, will count on season’s awards if any one performance has been completed.  All contestants, for that performance, must have had their opportunity to compete, including slack for that performance.  All prize money will be prorated according to performances held.

  1. IRCA members acknowledge that rodeos are a dangerous activity and hereby release IRCA, IRCA officers, and IRCA directors, IRCA sponsors, IRCA rodeo committees, IRCA sanctioned rodeo productions entities, and the officers directors, employees and agents of such entities from liability from any and all property damage, personal injuries, or other claims arising from involvement or participation in a IRCA sanctioned rodeo, including claims that are known and unknown, foreseen and unforeseen, future or contingent.
  2. Contestant Designated slack may be held (when deemed necessary by contractor and/or committees) after performances are filled, if at least 50 or more contestants request.  A $5.00 fee, per contestant, will be accessed, by contractor in addition to their regular fees.  A team in the team roping will be considered as 2 separate contestants.  It will be the responsibility of the contestants to call back, within one (1) hour of call-in closing time, to verify designated slack.
