NEWS August 2006

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT:

Hello everyone, hope all is well.

July has been a very busy rodeo month and also a very hot month!  I would like to extend my apology to the contestants and Heartland Rodeo Co. for not getting the designated slack in the newsletter.  We handled the situation the best we could.  This rodeo will still count towards year end points.  Finals time is right around the corner.  Shirley Wright will be taking entries on Tues., Aug. 29th and call backs will be on Thurs.  Aug. 31st.  If you are in the top 20 in your event you do need to call in.  You must have competed in 6 rodeos in your event to be eligible.  If you are in the top 15 in your event you need to call me to vote on judges and pick up men.  Timed event people need to vote on judges and rough stock need to vote on pick up men and judges.  The bull fighters will be Brandon Brazier and Bryan Buffington.  Please remember to vote as this is your rodeo finals.  We will have full details for the finals in the next newsletter. The dates for the finals will be September 8,9, and 10 in Osceola , Ia.   Todd Crase has agreed to do arena director on Sept 8 and 10th but we will need to find someone to do it on Sept 9th so let me know if you are interested.  If you have questions regarding standings please contact Shirley, she has a laptop with her at all the rodeos.  We can only update standings as soon as we get the information from the rodeo secretaries.  We are doing the program book again this year at the finals, if you know of anyone wanting to place an ad as far as good luck ad or a business ad let me know.  It is very easy to sell these ads and it helps us with finals expenses, so don't be afraid to hit up your local businesses.  If you have any rule proposals for the general meeting they must be in 2 weeks before the finals.  I will be doing the dirt bike raffle at the finals, if you didn't get your tickets or got saddle  raffle tickets with your memberships let me know and I will get you the right tickets.  It seems as though everyone wants coats at the finals, everyone can help by finding sponsors and the directors would appreciate any help you can give them.  My personal theory is the worst a sponsor could tell you is no and it never hurts to ask.  If you  need help on what to give them or to say let me know and I will help all I can.  Every little bit helps.

See you down the road,

Michelle Waldhauser
