2008 Reunion

Aftermath - Rodeo Clown Reunion
The Rodeo Clown Reunion was a huge success in Dodge City , Kansas .  The Dodge City Days Rodeo Committee and so many more sponsors made our stay there so enjoyable and memorable.  The honorees dressed in their familiar costumes of the past and donned their individual ‘clown faces’ to entertain the fans all over Dodge City, including autographing before each of the five rodeo performances and helping with the Youthville Rodeo for Exceptional Children, the Mutton Bustin’, the Boot Scramble and tossing T-shirts to the fans.

The Rodeo Clown Reunion Comes To Dodge City
The rodeo clowns of yesteryear are donning their familiar make-up and garb and will appear at the Dodge City Days in Dodge City, Kansas, July 30th through August 3rd,. Approximately fifty retired rodeo clowns, bullfighters and barrelmen will attend the annual rodeo and activities in Dodge City, which includes visiting with fans.

The event not only honors these hilarious funnymen and cowboy savers from the past, but it gives the Dodge City Days this group of characters that will participate during the rodeo as well as around town during their visit. These laugh-getters are a wealth of information and fun about the world of rodeo and are delighted to get back in their baggy britches and make-up and visit with rodeo fans and entertain once again. Some of the attending rodeo clowns were early day performers at Dodge City Days as early as the 1940s, ‘50s and ‘60s.

Some of the honorees attending will be Kajun Kidd and George Doak, of Texas; Melvin Fields, of Coffeyville, Kansas; 99 year old Monk Carden, from Pendleton, Oregon; Wayne Cornish, Jim Hill, Gary Parli, from Oklahoma; “Toad” Cook, from Michigan; Jerry Olson and Jim Aplan of South Dakota; Pete Peterson and Gordie Peer from Florida, and the only woman who has the distinction of being a rodeo clown for thirteen years, Dixie Reger Mosley, just to name a few.

These honorees have saved many bull riders from the perils of those ferocious bulls that would rather tear up a cowboy than let him get to safety. They have also made thousands of fans giggle and guffaw to their comedic routines and actions. Come join the fun, bring your cameras and get autographs from these early day characters. They are guaranteed to tickle your funnybone!
