Professional Rodeo Clown

Sadie's Story

Shawn has been voted 16x Rodeo Clown of the Year in 7 different rodeo associations.  That’s pretty amazing to have been in this business for 10 years and work 16 finals, but that’s not the real amazing story.

Let me tell you a little more about my friend. You see in January 2002 Shawn “Boom Boom” Thompson was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cancer.  He fought the battle for 6 months, 12 hour chemotherapy treatments and still kept doing the rodeos he had booked for the season.

Although this was tough to handle, Shawn and his wife Jennifer both agree that the hardest thing to handle through the whole sickness was when the doctors told them they would never have children every again and that Tate would never be a big brother. But some good news did come on July 18, 2002. Shawn was declared in remission-- cancer free.

But wait there is more to the story… on July 18, 2004 two years to the date that Shawn was declared in remission, Shawn’s wife Jennifer made Tater a big brother. She gave birth to their second child, a beautiful baby girl, Sadie Kay.

Shawn and Jen will be the first to tell you how blessed they have been with a second chance, two beautiful healthy children and a purpose for living. They truly believe that everything happens for a reason. Shawn’s only wish is that he can be a motivation for others going through tough times.
