Beyond the PBR

Jeff Bressler, Exclusive Genetics

By Jeff Bressler, Team EG Rider Agent

Many times fans and followers of bull riding get a little too “PBRcentric.” PBR is indeed the premier organization for the sport worldwide, but each week many fans are missing out on some exciting big time action by not following both the CBR and PRCA’s Xtreme Bulls. At your fingertips are some great websites and television coverage that gives you no excuse not to expand your bull riding horizons.

Exclusive Genetics has made a big impact in the PBR by sponsoring some of its top bull riders. Former World Champion Mike Lee, Pistol Robinson, and Last Cowboy Standing winner Luke Snyder all do an outstanding job of representing Exclusive Genetics. In the past LJ Jenkins, Chris Shivers, Valderon de Oliveira and Mike White have ridden for the brand and remain great friends of EG.

This season Exclusive Genetics, in addition to our rider program in the PBR, has become major sponsors of both CBR and the PRCA’s Extreme Bulls.

For EG customers one of the great features to follow throughout the 2012 Championship Bull Riding season, which will be broadcast on Fox Sports Net, is CBR’s Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge. Keep your eyes on this one! You never know where your own bull’s eventual journey will take you.

The Challenge is formulated to allow stock contractors to enter bulls of any age, with absolutely no restrictions, into selected CBR events. Bulls are entered in a three-bull team format. Two of the three bulls are bucked in the long round of competition, and one bucks in the short go for a combined score. The total score is then added with the number of seconds each bulls’ rider completed. Over $1 million will be paid out over the 2012 Bull Team Season. The finals will be held at the Cheyenne Frontier Days in July with a $225,000 pay out at the finals.

Where do riders such as Shane Proctor, L.J. Jenkins and Douglas Duncan among others go when they are not riding in the PBR? To PRCA Xtreme Bulls events of course. And why? To follow a lot of green for sure! Valuable points gained in Xtreme Bulls gain riders the numbers needed to qualify for PRCA’s National Finals Rodeo. It’s easy to follow Xtreme Bulls all season long. They broadcast their season on the GAC cable network.

In 2011 Shane Proctor lead a double life. Even a season that saw injuries curtail Proctor’s riding leading up to the PBR Finals, he still finished 9th in points earning close to $130,000.

In Proctor’s other life he won the 2011 PRCA bull riding Championship at the NFR. With his performance at NFR, which unfortunately ended in an injury that has yet to see him return to action in 2012, Proctor won over $238,000 across the season.

See what I mean by PBRcentric? While you followed Proctor’s great season in PBR he was actually earning more money and winning a Championship in the PRCA!

PBR, CBR, PRCA Xtreme Bulls all have a big Exclusive Genetics sponsorship presence. We’re proud to support the industry and look forward to you watching, visiting or reading about their events all season long.
